Week 6 cyoa: hei, jiuqing, vin, and kashuu

[NOOOOOO THE FUCKING DRAGONS. He's going to try to maneuver away, dropping back further behind the bulk of the horde with his 15 roll. Unfortunately since he's piloting he cannot help Vin with Vax's corpse.

[ VIN. is STRUGGLING to keep Vax in the manacutter, but he's in it. He's still with them, even if a dragon keys their sweet ride with its claws. It pushes them off course by only a little, since they're battling 15s.

As they're about three-fourths of the way to Nidhogg, they pass someone on dragonback flying the opposite way. Are the plans... The same? ]

[well. given how focused she is on trying to make sure vax doesn't fall out of the manacutter after that last horrible roll, she only glances up for a second. while she sees the figure covered in gore, she doesn't have time to look at them for long before she's back to business.

she's also summoning her double to land on the dragon that just clawed their getaway car. free them.

[MEANWHILE KASHUU DOESN'T SEE HER AT ALL WITH HIS 2 ROLL BECAUSE HE'S BUSY TRYING TO STEER THIS SHIP OUT OF DANGER.]

[ Living Shadow summons, taking her form but leaking with darkness. With its greatsword, it plunges onto the dragon clawed into their manacutter and descends into the clouds with it. Well. I guess that solves the problem? No dragons seem to pay them mind, but they notice something large, angry, and dark coming their way at top-speed.

It's Nidhogg, leading his brood to Ishgard with a rallying cry. ]

The time is nigh!

[ With a 19, he swats at the ship that is in his way, sending them flying down to one of the floating islands. Are they just a bug to him...? ]

as they start falling from the air, she's turning her attention from real vax's corpse to kashuu, moving so she can shield him in case the landing is violent somehow. she understands nothing about flying vehicles but falling out of the air seems bad?! if she's right about that, she doesn't want him to get hurt as they land. i hope he's perfectly capable of landing safely even after they're swatted and this is pointless

Though who knows how long that's going to last at this rate!! He rolled a 4 so as they crash down to one of the floating islands as he desperately tries and fails to regain control of their tiny ship, he's probably gonna get at least somewhat busted up regardless of Vin's high-rolling 18. God bless. Love that she somehow manages to protect both of them so well though that's hilarious.]

[ Fortunately, Vin and Kashuu are tanks so the fall damage they take is a little less. Vin makes a nice save, though Kashuu will find his injuries rustled. Vin, also, based on their rolls done already in the channel. They get to watch from (floating) land as the sea of dragons make their way south, the same way they came. It would be mesmerizing how this swarm of giant leathery flying chickens move as one, but...

WHAT IS THE PLAN NOW... ]

fortunately they aren't too beat up, even if her prior injuries aren't feeling great... so she's going to look around the fallen manacutter to see if it seems like it's at all operational. though, before she does that, she's addressing kashuu!!]

Yeah-- [He's pretty BUSTED but it's fine, he's a terminator, he can just keep going.] --are you?

[While she's busy dealing with scouting for Vax's body, he'll also take a look with his unfortunate 5 roll to see if this crashed thing still looks pilotable.

Barring that, he'll also glance over the sides of their floating island to see how far away any of the other ones are, and whether or not there's anything worthwhile on them. Imagine they're just stranded here.]

[ The floating islands are well connected, so they can essentially walk the lands in the Churning Mists. All of the dragons that have roamed these lands are also gone. Wow.

y'all... with a 6, the manacutter might be able to ferry a toddler? ]

...We can't fly anywhere else, but - we could walk.

[ow her leg, ow her arm, ow her everything. i'm also saying her roll means vax got yeeted out at some point as they crashed so she looks around but cannot find him at all. horrible. after a moment:]

But to where? I think it flew beyond these islands, so without the ship... [a beat.] I don't think we'll be able to find a passage back to the Prism without looking around, though.

[THEIR VAX IS FUCKING GONE. Except his shoes which are apparently here thanks to their 11 roll but Kashuu's not taking those. It's fine, he'll be... okay... when he pops out on the other side... as their very real cyoa partner........]

...Yeah. Let's get looking, then.

[His 20 roll is for ease of maneuverability, and he will take advantage of that to help Vin as they begin TRAVERSING THESE CONNECTED ISLANDS, APPARENTLY.]

Maybe we can find another one of these things somewhere.

[ Do we wonder how Estinien got to the Aery... Rip that second manacutter.

The Churning Mists are the land of the dragons and moogles, so there is little technology here. There are, however, signs of building like people once lived here, but the architecture is ancient in comparison to the style of the manacutter. As they walk these connected islands, they do see a moogle! This moogle. It steals Vax's (unworn) shoe, leaving the other behind, and flies off.

This moogle stops in front of a large aetheryte. ]

[NOT THE SHOE the shoe that belongs to very real vax......

she's running after it!! just kind of accepting that kashuu is going to follow behind her. i'm losing my mind. as they approach the crystal, at least, she slows.]

...We should be able to leave with this, though I don't know where exactly it leads.

[ With a 4, the moogle does not have the WILL to keep running with the shoe. It throws it at one of them with a measly 4. It doesn't hit them. It plops onto the floor with a little plip.

There's an awkward silence, but the moogle BOOKS IT. When they touch the aetheryte, they will appear by the aetheryte in Falcon's Nest. Their rolls will dictate their aethersickness since this is their first time. While similar to motion sickness, their vision also blurs every once in a while, they will also feel a bit giddy here and there.

For an example/reference, the symptoms like being heavily intoxicated for five minutes. With a 14, Vin is okay, though kind of wobbly and her head feels stuffy. If she needed and wanted to focus, then she can. For Kashuu... He won't collapse or be stuck to a spot, but damn, son. ]

this is a wild feeling!! and she wobbles a little, but her focus is going to be on keeping kashuu standing. as she does that, she's also going to be looking around to see the state of the place.

But wow THIS IS TERRIBLE. Kashuu has fortunately(????) been drunk before, so he knows exactly what's happening as he just leans against a wall for a second.]

[ There are the sounds of dragons roaring past the gates of Ishgard... Vin and Kashuu can also see two great wyrms, one white which they know nothing about against Nidhogg. Falcon's Nest is empty—must have been evacuated.

By the way, black bird is still following and it has brought Vax's body despite being a small black bird. ]

[looks at the gate. looks at kashuu. looks at the bird.]

Are you all well enough to go that way...?

[slashay]

[This bird............ is maybe an ally after all... And also abnormally strong... He sees.]

--I'm... I think I might, like. Need a second.

[HE DOESN'T WANT TO RUSH OUT INTO BATTLE LIKE THIS but like, he will if he has to. Like, if people start yelling for help or something then his drunk ass is going to stumble that way.]

[ Black bird perches on real Vax again and waits here.

Since they are here in the empty Falcon's Nest! They can look at the pool of blood Yasusada and Vax made earlier. Very cool. It's a bit difficult to hear any yells for help when the city is an amalgamation of sounds, a chorus of death sang harmoniously by man and dragon. People are dying, but people die every day, don't they?

The voice again: "why live to suffer?"

Ultimately, it means Kashuu can have his second. ]

Take the time you need, but... We should do something, though - I do not know which way to go, anyways.

I'm gonna find wherever that stupid voice is coming from and make 'em eat my whole fist.

[HATEFUL. Anyway he rolled too low to be sensible about staying here until his condition has fully improved so he'll wait, like 2 out of 5 minutes before deciding THAT'S ENOUGH and starting to stagger in the direction of battle sounds.]

Ugh-- Let's just... see if we can find Ayme. Maybe once we're back together we'll be able to get outta here.
