saturations | Week 6 cyoa: hei, jiuqing, vin, and kashuu

[ Vax is my character now, I guess. His whole right arm is marred, much like her own, but more severe—and yet, he's still trying to push its limits with some dagger tricks.

His expression is dark, grim, like his thoughts aren't on how the knife spins between his burnt fingers. It stops when he hears her voice. ]

[ After all that happened in that forsaken camp, he can't find it in himself to use nicknames. ]

as he says her name and seems to recognize her, though, she pauses. then she's moving to kneel next to him, concerned.]

Don't move your hand too much, you'll hurt it... Have one of the healers come to see you? I can go get them.

[ I am gaslighting all these characters into thinking another is real, damn. He grips onto his dagger, as if he wants to DEFY, but again he doesn't have it in him. ]

Yeah, but they're making sure everyone's getting some healing, which. [ He looks at the others in the tent, many of them unconscious. ] Y'know, fair, even though this is all the Prism's fucky field trips.

[she sighs, but she nods.]

[ :thonk: very fiercely, even though he's like. In a very somber mood, kind of not all here, but he is going to try for her. ]

Dragons attack elves, elves attack back? That sums it up pretty well and I don't blame them. That camp was hellish and they've been doing this for what—over a thousand years?

[ Because when Vin thinks back to the camp, for some reason she will remember more clearly. One of the bodies that were on the floor, dead, was Atsushi. ]

All I know is that they're planning to end all of this, everything, and the plan here is to kill... [ He goes silent. ] Nidhogg.

Over a thousand years...?

[atsushi... that's a very fun and cool detail that she doesn't hate at all. her expression twists as the recollection comes back to her, and she almost starts hacking up a flower before forcing herself to move on. that name is familiar to her, at least, so she tries to focus on it.]

So this is Estinien and Aymeric's world, then. How strange... But, that is the objective here? We are meant to kill this dragon?

[ She was trying to handle the moment, so it's understandable that only when she settles does she clearly remember. Maybe she was protecting herself from the shock. The mind protects the soul in mystical ways. Maybe it's the same for Vax because in her silence, his own matches the mood. ]

There is a problem. The guys here are very serious about recovery, so I won't be able to join you for a couple of days. Can't even sneak past them, either, which is ridiculous. Guess their long ears make them hear better? Who would have thought.

[she reaches for his uninjured hand to give it a squeeze, but she nods, even as she smiles at the comment about their ears. it's a little tense.]

It's better if you stay here and recover. Is there anything you need me to do for you in your stead?

[ He takes her hand and gives her a good, solid squeeze. Hopefully, that reassures her. ]

Let me pull out my list: stab dragons, switch out that greatsword for some daggers, keep yourself safe, and don't die? From lowest to highest priority, but the daggers is pretty important.

[ Looks into camera. ]

... If you run into Estinien... He's not like the one we know, but look after him as best as you can without putting yourself on the line. Okay?

[ Sometimes you are a little soft for an elf that shares same lore. ]

[the smile grows a little bit, and she nods.]

I can do all of that. [wait] Where are there daggers? And once I have them - I can ask one of the other knights where I should be going and they can point me there, I'm guessing?

Daggers aren't popular here in Ishgard for some reason, but I think that guy [ from earlier. ] got them from the markets in Ishgard, he said? The city is just beyond those gates.

[ Vax looks south of the village and there towering gates. Very close! Anyway: ]

Yeah, definitely. They know where everything is, so just ask them and they can point. Pretty convenient, actually...

[ he's... mildly shocked. ]

They use "gil" or whatever, but you know what to do if there's some... Disagreement.

[she nods, though when he seems Sadder now that she's left, a frown crosses her face.]

[her vax..... but she nods.]

Yes. He said that your intention was to fight Nidhogg, correct? Where would we go to do that?

[ Sometimes npcs mull over their not-cyoa adventures where their twin brutally dies and it's traumatic. ]

[ Haurchefant strokes his chin, but a stern nod. He's resolute in keeping Vax SAFE. ]

Aye, but that is not the objective of my garrison. We here in Falcon's Nest are to hold this front while a special squad will coax Nidhogg out. You would need to speak to the Lord Commander for any details on that. [ ... ] You are here to assist us?

... I do wish to speak out of line and station. It may come strange, as who would ever deny help during dire times, but this not need be your fight—this war does not need to be yours. You can find succor in Ishgard, mayhap flee to safety elsewhere.
