If they don't want the chat, they can garden. I don't need the help, but offering these lets us help in other ways. And personally, I think either a nice chat or an hour's hard work outside is good for anybody in a time like this.
I do think a distraction is welcome. Gardening may not be everyone's first choice of relief, but hard work yielding fruit is heartening. I bid assistance again, if there is need after your first set of visitors.
