[ The problem is the tiger following aymeric obviously he doesn’t mind doing the work. ]
I have little doubt that you are thoughtful, Lord Riff.
[ Aymeric doesn’t think the words would affect them too much… He hopes. Anyway, he gets started first with leading to one of the corners of the cemetery. ]
… A series of events have led to the Final Days. To put it simply, despair and hopelessness is turning man into monster. There’s no cure once they transform.
[they're focused on the tiger, but for a moment it seems like their eyes might dim just slightly. it's very fast and enough that aymeric may miss it, but they look at him again and are just following along with this tiger. it's gone quiet at least now that riff let it speak.]
idk about that but...that doesnt sound great the final days sound like u know final? even if theres no cure once they transform is there something that can be done to save them before theyre gone?
[ He starts prepping by setting things down neatly, then cutting some gift wrapper with his lisa frank knife. ]
... There is naught to be done for them. When they turn, they attack others indiscriminately and their sightings instill the very emotions that cause the transformation. If they're not exterminated, monsters will spread within and without.
a little too perfect if u ask me so its like...theyre mindless its almost nicer to end things for them than let them continue to change and destroy things how do u prevent something like that?
Yes, they are. They're without aether, stripped of it when they turned, and only aether can return to the aetherial sea... Where they may meet those lost one last time before rebirth.
[ Their afterlife, rip. He makes a nice corsage-like piece with what he has. ]
You assuage despair in the most vulnerable and neglected.
["...that still sounds sadder than it has to be."]
can i ask u something? does everyone get a chance at rebirth when they disappear? if all of their lifeforce is going back to the world or however it works
... That is what the scholars of Sharlayan discovered, yes. When one dies, they would return to aether and join the aetherial sea. There they are said to remember all the memories they've lost, if any, and rejoin those they've missed. For however long that lasts depends on the star's whims... To reborn starts the cycle anew.
[ But y'know without aether you're just dead forever, i guess. ]
[they don't reply immediately because they're petting the tiger they're still holding but they also seem to be really thinking this over.]
and being reborn and starting fresh means everythings gone after that ...guess i was just wondering the closure doesnt sound bad if u cant miss stuff u remember again when ur reborn
Aye… Though I imagine the star never thought to give closure. ‘Twas a coincidence many considered a blessing.
Still, as you’ve surmised, rebirth is alike death. Thus man will seek fulfillment, meaning. That is their wont, but I’d argue purpose is for any being.
[ And this grave is done with some decorations. ]
What is there in the Prism? Is there an afterlife?
[ Aymeric smiles at the nice clean grave with fresh decorations. ]
I'm sure other spaces follow different rules, but let's not mull over what could be at the end. The journey and the company you made on your trek are most important.
i doubt u will but urs at least is a little easier to understand pretty sure thats how the saying goes real treasure is the friends u made along the way and whatever so...to the next grave
[onward!]
oh i didnt last time but since u came to help let me know what ud like in exchange probably something small tho
[ Next corner. Aymeric starts with brushing around the grave like before, then preps a bouquet again. ]
... I was interested in the device you brought last time, but I imagine that to be complex. An earring is a perfect reward. [ you can never have too many single gay earrings. ] That or a very nice pen.
[there's a nod because. it's the cheesiest and dumbest statement, but for some reason they seem to think it makes sense. they shift the tiger in their hands and hold a hand out to use a little bit of water to wash away from dirt.]
little bit maybe another time tho if u really want but i think i can do either or pen might be more useful to u though?
[says the npc who functions in a text-based medium.]
I would like that. To have opportunity to play similar games with others or in the comforts of Verdant is enticing.
[ But he will be happy with another earring or a pen. Once the bouquet is done, he puts it into a jar and places it in a different place for this grave. Personal touches better than everything looking the same. ]
They're both useful for their purposes. An accessory on the left ear is meant to bring luck.
haha yeah well thats definitely why i like it ask me again another time and ill see what i can do
[they're actually kind of pleased that aymeric's making a real effort. there's also a subconscious touch of their own ear like they're thinking about that.]
really? does it actually work?
[but they will hold up their hand and focus for a second, concentrating before summoning a very nice fountain pen. it's blue. the ink is black but the casing is blue.]
[ This is his pen now. He looks very happy with it because it’s blue? And it’s pocketed before he picks up their stuff. Another grave decorated and more to go. ]
I’ll look forward to seeing you wear one in the future, then. Dare I say you would look very dashing.

[ Been a while since he could visit a grave himself, so he does want the best of these... Nameless ones. He tilts his head at that. ]
I do not have the answer, but I've survived this long. Are you considering sporting one?

maybe
it doesnt really sound so bad
