[deep breath. he looks at the others, brief, like he's hoping they won't see. and then reaches to take riff's wrist, and starts to move away.
it's just that he doesn't really have time to. there's a crack of a sound, and he lets out a noise, stumbling forward - as wings burst free from his back. he drops to his knees, and doesn't even have time to scream as his form rapidly changes, shifts into something towering and hard to look at. he's all sorts of colors, the paintlike substance flooding down from his hairline - a swirl of nasty, angry, vibrant colors. in that swirl are little symbols that seem agitated and painful. two gold bangles appear on each wrist, almost like cuffs, and when he looks over his shoulder - his eyes are bright yellow, face inhuman. almost doglike.
[yeah. yeah, okay, his instincts were right the first time he left. things were shifting, things were breaking, things were snapping and falling out of their control so when bass takes his wrist there's zero hesitation. it's possible he's trying to take the lead to get them to move faster.
granted, then bass falls out of his grip, form changing rapidly as riff can only stare with wide eyes.
there isn't time to say anything except a shout that maybe could have been a warning, a twin pair of wings shooting out with a sickening crackle before blood and paint mix together into a dark, murky sort of mixture. the form wobbles, changing shape and size, pulling and stretching until it slowly melds into the other monstrous form, conjoining at the arm as color spills through various cracks and a band of red wraps around the middle. a pair of cat-like ears sprout from the head, a spindly, sharp black tail following before a golden hoop appears in one ear, blinding in the light. the face warps into something softer, almost a little cuter, if it weren't for the bright yellow eyes and the thing, barely-there pupils.
that's probably not great, is it?
two pairs of wings are a powerful thing, and the creature lets out a shriek in two separate octaves before its powerful legs jump, launching itself elsewhere in the city.]
