ROLE: Rainbow Chaser
RAINBOW CHASER
Today, regardless of wherever Yasusada is, they will soon receive a text message from Steel.
This way. Through the arch. We must discuss.
You don't really have time to question what arch they mean as the ground begins to rumble and an elegant pink archway erects before you.
As Yasusada enters through the archway they'll find themselves in what appears to be a traditional Japanese castle, walking through an almost endless series of nearly empty rooms, sliding paper doors that only reveal more rooms that seem to lead nowhere. Wandering, it will begin to be difficult to remember what path they've taken to get to this point in the labyrinth before, finally, they open a door to a larger, open room, not quite so claustrophobically cramped. Most of the room is in deep shadow, but they will almost instinctively know that Steel is seated across from them at a low table in the center of the room.
Between you on the table is a piece of paper, covered in neat, precise handwriting. From the shadows, a hand casts a gesture at the paper.
"So, you have arrived. You shall begin here."
RULES
1. You shall remain awake on Thursday nights.
2. Things that happen in the darkness are strange and unpredictable. Prepare yourself.
3. Choose your path.
4. Discuss this with no one.
After reading the rules, they will find that an image becomes the home screen of their phone and feel something...sticky...appear on their backside as a temporary tattoo of the same image appears. Only Yasusada will be able to see these changes once he leaves this place.
Once the brand settles in, Steel continues to gaze in their direction, unwavering.
"If you have questions, Rainbow Chaser, now is the time to ask them."

Luckily, I believe the Prism has chosen well. You will perform admirably.

[It takes him a minute, in his confusion--but he notices the paper eventually, reading over it with a furrowed brow.]
Is this like scouting? I'm not a tantou, though, I don't think I can see that well.
[something something touken ranbu game reference to night battles]
no subject
[ he didnt read it first?? i love him ]
I believe your eyes will be perfectly sufficient for the job at hand.
no subject
I guess he's just assuming he got bitten by a bug or something idk
anyway focusing]
Alright, but what am I scouting for? [Also, pointing at the last line--] Steel-san, this is no good! I know you're used to fighting by yourself, but when you're in a unit, you have to share things.
[why do none of you know how to work as a team goddamn is this what it felt like dealing with him]
no subject
I do not know exactly. This is a directive of the Prism itself. We will have to find out when you go.
[ they lean over to look at where he's pointing - out of the shadows a bit. today, they're humanoid, but with two tall horns from their forehead. faceless, covered in that shadowy goop. ]
This task, I'm afraid, you must carry out alone.
no subject
The horns seem to startle Yasusada briefly--he jerks back a little, staring at them, but then he shakes his head as if to snap himself out of whatever he'd been thinking. He slides the paper over so that Steel can see it.]
I don't mind doing it myself. [For all that he's been leaning hard into teamwork and cooperation, he sounds confident about this; he did, after all, more-or-less carry out the hardest mission of his life mostly alone.] But if I find anything, then Kiyomitsu and Buzen need to know too. Especially Kiyomitsu. I can't... [He pauses, looking down at his lap.] I won't keep secrets from him again.
no subject
Only If you find anything.
[ ... ]
And only Kyomitsu. For now.
no subject
It still doesn't sit right with him, but he's very familiar with that tone--the one of a captain whose made their decision, and won't be swayed further. So he nods, and sits quietly for a minute.]
...I'm sorry. [For jumping, he means--he lifts a hand, gesturing to his head.] Our enemies at home--the retrograde army, I mean--some of them have horns like that. So I was surprised.
no subject
There are no apologies necessary. It is ... it was an enemy of mine as well. That is the reflection of every form I take. A battle I remember.
[ but,]
I expect you will do well. Your participation will help the people here. I believe that strongly.
no subject
ANYWAY. He looks back down at the paper, thoughtful.]
Will you be scouting too? Should I report back to you?
no subject
[ is this confirming steel has an ass? ]
You will be reporting to me, yes.
no subject
Alright. [He sighs, brushing his hair out of his bangs.] Then, if I see anything, I should retreat?
[Since this is scouting... or should he go scrap with a lisa frank knife]
no subject
I imagine this is a choice you will have to make for yourself when the time comes.
[ ominous? ]
no subject
It'd be easier if I had my blade.
[poor yams.... can't believe someone would deprive him of his sword like this...... who could've possibly decided that he'd get a microphone instead,]
no subject
You have a blade at least.
[ lisa frank knife? hello? ]
no subject
[THIS IS LIKE HIS 3RD COUSIN TWICE REMOVED]
I guess I could ask Buzen if I could use him if I need it, but he'd ask what for, so... [Hmmmm. He's not the best liar, especially not to his fellow swords.] I'll think of something. We haven't seen any enemies around here yet, so I think we have time.
[Little does he know he's in a mg]
Do you have any ideas, Steel-san? On the best places to check first?
no subject
[ COMPLAINING. ]
The decision is ultimately yours, and I trust your judgment on the matter. But ... perhaps some of the newer ones? They are as yet unstable, and therefore might have something interesting.
I would not claim to be entirely certain what it is you are looking for, however.
no subject
He tilts his head, thinking it over.]
If it's the prism doing this, then maybe more people are coming. [He'd love to believe that it's their reinforcements from the saniwa, and a part of him is hopeful for it--but he's not quite naive enough to really pin all his belief on that.] I haven't visited the new places yet, so is it okay if I go look around first, and then decide?
no subject
[ They sound like they aren't quite sure if they like the idea of even more people in here, but what can you do. ]
Yes. You will not be performing your duties until Thursday evening. You have until then.
no subject
Okay. I'll look around and come back soon. [After he gets glitterbombed and panty-fied I guess]
...Steel-san? What would the prism do, if I broke the rules?
[If he told anyone besides Kashuu about this, for instance. I'mma be real this is mostly extra ic incentive to keep his mouth shut]
no subject
I ... can't predict what it would do. But I doubt it would be anything you'd wish to see. Remember that Damien broke the rules it had set, even for a game, and that is what resulted in the events of yesterday. Perhaps it would put you in danger, but also someone you care for. It is not a risk I would venture.
no subject
Yasusada looks troubled by this news, though far less surprised than he would've been before Sunday, honestly. But one thing briefly distracts him.]
He did?
[Damien...]
no subject
[ A little chidingly, but like you'd do to comrade:]
You should pay close attention. You might miss something important.
no subject
[He hadn't realized that that was the consequence. Especially given what he'd heard from Damien--and, subsequently, Kashuu and Crow.]
...Never mind. I understand.
no subject
As you say.
