[NOOO HE CHOSE THE WRONG DOOR itsuki you ignorant slut look what you've done making him too nervous to choose purple
By comparison, Kashuu actually looks kind of startled again and then abruptly concerned as his gaze passes over the gentle scenery. Why is this place here...]
--Uh. It's... the citadel?
[But there's no noise, which is strange, because there are so many of them living together now that there's always some sort of shenanigans happening somewhere. He'll glance toward the farmlands where the horses are, but turn to start approaching the building and the pond first, some caution in his step. How strange... It reminds him of the earlier days, when there had only been a handful of them. He'll strain his ear to hear if he can catch any noises - clattering dishes or chattering - or see if anyone's sitting out on the porch once he's at a closer angle.]
[It's peaceful, as mentioned. The citadel is a quiet place. One might almost feel at ease here if they weren't aware how lively the place truly was. There's maybe a few fish in the pond, but the building itself is silent.
As they approach the porch though, they will both hear a whisper on the wind in a tone maybe familiar to Malik, and absolutely familiar to Kashuu.
"I want to stay with you."
There's no one to be found outside. Would they like to head in?]
Well! No one is outside, so Malik doesn't see the harm in going inside. He looks to Kashuu to gauge his reaction, since this obviously means something to him, but he's set on entering anyway. ]
[The hard thing about not being able to tell if the before was a dream or if the now is a dream or if any of this at all is a dream or if everything is a dream is that he can't remind himself easily that this might not be real.
And the second he hears that voice, he's taking off, like he thinks he'll find the person it belongs to. SORRY SWEET MALIK but it's fine since they're both heading in the same direction: inside. Surely the people who should be outside but aren't will be in here instead...?]
Everything is put away and quiet. There isn't the sound of laughter. There's no sound of dishes. There's no singing, no talking, nothing appears to be happening in this home.
The wind follows them, the trees swaying outside. That voice speaks again:
"...I don't know what I'd do, if it had been you."
But there's nothing to be found here. No one's home. The citadel is quiet, and only Kashuu and Malik remain. Alone, this place feels so big and so empty. But in the middle of the floor there's a familiar hair ornament made by another friend.
It's the only piece left signifying anyone was ever here are all.]
[Hm. Thanks, he will carry the haunting memory of his home emptied of life with him for the rest of his days.
Anyway he's actually quite appreciative of Malik giving him space, because as everyone saw during trial, he's one of those types that gets increasingly aggressive and porcupine-like the more emotional turmoil he's going through. He'll take a few moments to grapple with the heavy and unpleasant weight in his chest that seeing the citadel in this state brings to him, and then move forward to see if he can pick up the hair ornament.
He doesn't particularly want to look any farther than what he's already seen, though, so after that he makes his way back to the porch.]
[He can pick it up. Take it with him. It's the only piece he has left now that everyone's gone away without a chance to say goodbye.
Back through the door then.
They're in the stone room again, only this time the walls are caving in a little closer. The trial rages on outside, but this time Yasusada's voice is gone, too. The two pillars holding up the arch for the pedestal are now streaked in blue, and the swords on the wall have vanished entirely.
They have the options of the purple door, the green door, or the bench. Unless they can think of something else?]
[Wow! That's fun. Having a human heart might suck, actually?? He almost doesn't even notice that the swords are missing at first, because he notices Yasusada's absence so keenly. How can he not, when they're mirrors?
It's literally only the fact that he now wants this to all be fake that he can power through the immense weight of Depressios he's currently feeling. The sooner they get through this, the sooner they can either wake up or perish!]
--Yeah. Okay. ...Okay. Be careful.
[WHY'D HE TAKE THE GREEN DOOR HELP. Malik's right, though - he doesn't want to run out of time, though he's not sure why. Maybe waiting out the clock would be fine in this case. He turns away from this empty room and heads through the purple door.]
[Malik goes through the green door, and Kashuu goes through the purple door.
As Malik enters, he will immediately be hit with the smell of...fish? Welcome to Kappa Heaven! The lights are dim and the food is, well, extremely fresh. The sushi bar is empty at the moment, but there's plenty of food to go around. There's also a kitchen behind the counter if he wants to explore further, but strangely this restaurant is quiet. He can poke around if he wants? Browse the menu, maybe.
Meanwhile, Kashuu goes through the purple door and the smell of something sweet appears. Welcome to Chrono Rabbit. The cafe is a little busier than wherever Malik is, but every table is meant for two. The patrons of this cafe are seated side by side or across from one another, tucked away for a bit of privacy and intimacy. Sweets are piled high at a counter near the front, the scent of tea and coffee wafting through the air. The heart-shaped cushions look extremely comfortable.
There's an empty table in the corner, over by the windows. He, too, can poke around if he'd like. Perhaps he'd also like to peruse the menu of this fine establishment.]
[ Malik looks around, almost unnerved by the lack of people. Not quite enough to get him to stop exploring, and he pushes further towards the kitchen. He has his fun in the bar, and honestly, curiosity compels him forward.
Though he'll spare a glance at the menu before he goes behind the counter. ]
[YOU THANOS SNAP HIS POTATO AND THEN SEND HIM TO A COUPLES CAFE!!! JAIL, JAIL FOR 100 YEARS.
Well. He'd probably like something like this normally, but as it is, he's just glancing around at these couples and feeling very Upsetti. Binch. He ignores the sweets and doesn't even stop to sniff at things, how tragic. He will head over to the empty table without poking around much, where he'll take a look at the menu, too.]
[AGAIN, DID NOT PICK THE ORDER OF THE DOORS YOU GUYS WENT THROUGH.
But okay, in Kappa Heaven Malik is free to explore! On the menu, he'll see listings for all kinds of sushi, both hand and cut rolls. There are also some listings for things like gyoza, edamame, etc. Pretty standard fare, along with beers and sake.
Entering the kitchen, he'll find a stove, a large counter, and a wall to wall fridge and walk-in freezer. It seems as though the kitchen was abandoned in the middle of preparing a meal. There's a fish sitting out on the counter. Rice is in a rice cooker, but it's starting to burn? There's soy sauce spilled on the floor, too, but it's oddly in the shape of a handprint.
There are also footprints leading toward the freezer in the soy sauce.
Meanwhile back at Chrono Rabbit, Kashuu's life continues to suck. Sitting at the empty table, he'll get the chance to browse the menu. It's a lot of cafe treats, little tarts and coffees and teas. There are some sandwiches and some pastas available. Maybe he'd like to order something?
He's not alone for long before the chair across from him scrapes across the floor. Or, perhaps, he is alone? There doesn't seem to be anyone there, but he'll hear a voice clear as day.
"I'm not too interested in getting another taste of hatred any time soon but...well, sometimes I feel like this place might push me a little closer, every now and then."
There are sounds outside of the cafe as well. He is close to the window, after all.]
[ Wouldn't it be funny if Malik just left to vibe invalidly somewhere else.
In any case, he has no idea what any of these words on the menu are - he understands the concept, but his palette is rather limited, and I'm not getting him fucked up on sake after I pushed my luck with the beer. Which. I guess he's been walking around with that empty glass. Alright.
There's some hesitation, but he approaches the freezer. He stands behind the door and tries to peer in cautiously, just in case maybe someone is in there...? ]
[This is what happens when your ass gets attached to too many people too fast, you're just HAUNTED BY THEM WHEREVER YOU GO!! He starts a little to hear the sound of the chair moving, but no one is there - except a too-familiar voice, which has him just kind of looking blankly at the air for a second. Honestly, mood! What a mood! Except he's too upsetti to feel the fires of hatred in his little sword heart. There's some definite anger there, though. Tragically, he is not in the mood to try ordering any of these cute little snicketysnacks, either...
He does look around the room for a few seconds though, like he's expecting to see a familiar face out there among the other tables, or like Buzen might just manifest from the great beyond in this empty chair. --The sounds from outside catch his attention too, though. He'll move a little closer to the window to try getting a listen.]
[Malik is still having an okay time. As he approaches the freezer, and opens the door...something heavy falls out. The door he's hiding behind swings, crushing him between the door and the door of the case next to it. Crates and crates of fish spill out of the freezer, leaning against the glass and pressing down against him.
Kashuu, meanwhile, is still having a not okay time. Every now and then he may catch familiar faces as he looks at the tables. Ryunnosuke and Kazuma laugh together at one table. Bubblegum and Marceline speak in conspiratorial whispers. People from the same worlds, together, happy to be alive without a care in the world. The glimpses are brief though, and outside the window Kashuu will see smoke billowing out of an apartment window. Sirens drive past, and people outside begin to gossip about a gas leak that's caused a fire.
[ Yeah! Malik is having a great time being crushed by crates of fish! This is wonderful! 10/10 experience, he'll leave a review later.
Since I rolled a measly 8, he's stuck wiggling to try and get free. He will have to abandon his beer glass in this moment to try and finagle something-- whether it's the door or the crates -- anything to give him some relief so he isn't crushed to death. ]
[malik's really out here getting fish'd to death MEANWHILE KASHUU'S JUST. Looking very smadly at these cute couples having cute conversations. Why is everyone he loves dead or thanos snapped...
But, hm. IS THAT NOTHING?? Even in his sea of depression, Kashuu's brow is furrowing at the sure signs of fire coming from that apartment. Can the windows be opened? If not, he'll look for a door to see if there are any that appear to lead outside. Why is he even going out there, this dumbass sword can't fight a fire!! He also knows nothing about gas leaks so that's fun. If there's no way to get outside, though, he'll just stand back up and make his way counter to see if there's anything over there besides sweets. Nothing else has had much but this SAD HAIRPIN, so he's getting ready to peel on outta here.]
[FRESH FISH! LOTS OF FRESH FISH! The crates wobble against the door, trying to fall free even as Malik is slowly crushed between the glass. But his wiggling does seem to help a little as a crate bursts open. Fish fall, slapping on the ground and in Malik's face. If he looks too hard, they may look to still be alive...but if he looks again, it seems that several of these fish have similar gouge marks to the ones on Roxana's body. Ice also spills out on the floor, causing him to slip a bit over the square tiles on the floor.
He's able to walk around the kitchen a bit, trying to avoid any of the spills. The rice continues to burn, but a timer on the counter begins to ring insistently.
Kashuu, meanwhile, can open the window! Not sure what he wants to do with that, but he can now see the smoke rising even faster, occasionally appearing slightly purple against the sky. A gas leak? Strange. He can have his hairpin and his depression and as he makes his way behind the counter he'll find a few more pieces of origami in the shape of flowers. Some of the edges appear to be burned, however.
Through the open window, he hears a loud bang, almost like a gunshot. A waiter in an interesting shirt delivers an order and shoots Kashuu a look, silently scolding him for opening the window before slamming it shut again. A truck passes by and it backfires, engine making the same loud noise.
This doesn't make any sense at all, does it? Ah, right. Wasn't there a trial they were meant to attend? They're running out of time to investigate aren't they? Who was it take died again? Aymeric and Itsuki, right? No. Roxana and Yasusada? No, that's still not right.
They're free to continue looking for clues, or they may exit the restaurants.]

[ With his newfound freedom, Malik has to take a moment-- and throw up. His nerves, the smell, his illegal beer... All a bad combination in this moment in time.
Once he's regained his composure, he makes his way towards that annoying alarm. I rolled to have him eat shit on the icy floor but rolled a 20, so that doesn't happen.
He picks up the timer and throws it as hard as he can onto the ground.
Ok that's it, he's out of here. He's even more of a vegetarian than when he got here. ]
[The bang startles him, but then he just gives this waiter a flat soulless stare for their silent scolding, as if he is the one who's been working here since opening.
He'll try to take these flowers too but then yeah he's also just fckin leaving BYE CAFE YOU WERE SO RUDE. He'll just have a memory crisis on his way out as he tries to recall exactly what it was they were even doing here in the first place or why they haven't found any clues for the murder of like four separate people at once. The stones grind against each other. Despite wearing shoes, they may feel the sand beneath their feet, gritty and dirty and a little slippery. There's still the bench inside the pedestal, under an arch held up by those pillars. Their faces have almost completely eroded away, purple and green filtering through their cracks.
[What a mood! What a mood!! Kashuu hesitates for a second, but honestly, he will also take a seat next to him. He needs a second to try regaining his bearings after all of this. Who the hell are they even executing? When did the trial end? Where's that stupid alarm coming from...?
He'll reach out, lightly touching Malik's shoulder without saying anything just yet. Just a little tap, since he knows asking if Malik's alright is kind of pointless. Is anyone alright!!! Maybe the bullet dodgers over in the other thread, except they also got beat up.
Anyway he'll just survey the room from their seat on the magical bench, wondering if this is how they die and if people die when they are killed by crushing stone.]
