[ he'll actually glance at Aymeric wondering if he's going to do it. then he gets hit in the face by the flowers. feeling embarrassed as he holds them. ] Whoa! Hey...thanks?
[ this is so weird. normally girls and lately boys aren't into him? giving the sword another touch. ]
Don't be so amused, dude. [ talking low enough for the sword and those on the stage to hear. putting the flowers off to the side before he returns to grab a fan. ]
We might have to do a dance. Uh... [ trying to remember if he was taught any involving fans. ]
[Aymeric will find that there is indeed enough for them to have two each! He can pass them out, though as he does and they take their respective fans, something strange happens.
At first, it may seem like the stage is shifting, but if they squint through the glare of the spotlight, they'll be able to see that it's actually the audience that's shifting instead. The raucous mob of people clamoring for Prompto's hand in marriage and a rare glimpse at Aymeric's boob (singular) begin to slide to the right, almost as if they're on a conveyor belt getting pulled out of the room, their cries fading out from the stage. From the left side, it seems a new crowd is coming in.
This one is far less energetic than the first, though. There aren't any enormous, hearty applause to be had in this group! Tragic. Rather, they'll see that their mob of adoring, manic fans has been replaced with... a bunch of grannies? Again, it's hard to tell with the glare of the lights, but you get the feeling that they are very stern and will perhaps be hard to please... Even your swords seem a little more intent on not goofing off.
The same, booming voice from before announces:]
East versus West versus North! A battle you've all been waiting to see! Who has the best festival song and dance in this team...? You, lucky audience, are about to find out!
[ Aymeric only began being popular with old people recently, so his reaction to grannies in the crowd (are they grannies) is... Not hopeful. He looks over to them while holding onto his two fans, apologetic and concerned.
Uhm. ]
I know naught of festival song and dance, at least not from this culture.
[ Meteion looks back with that same reflected apologetic and concerned, but also a sense of... lost. What do they do now? The same? This group does not sound as... energetic. And what do they mean battle...?
Gently pats her sword, she is doing her best but also... what. ]
Festival..? [ you know, maybe if she hung out with kumon and chinatsu more- she'd have the experience for this. unfortunately, she does not. are they gonna start booing us ]
[Wouldn't that be funny if the grannies started booing help.
They do not, but their stern energy sure makes a stark difference from their last crowd, huh? The silence is almost oppressive now that they've become used to the shrill cries of screaming fans.
No magical song or dance comes to them this time, but they do get the feeling that there is perhaps something helpful in the large boxes that have landed near the back...?]
[ There is a pause as Aymeric waits for them to just "know," but nothing comes. No songs come to mind for him, none that all of them would know. His eyes shift across the crowd, then to the back...
Oh.
Wait. ]
Appease the elderly forthwith while I look to see what else we're given.
[ Boxes? Aymeric will go look and open one to see what they have. ]
[The stern grannies do not seem pleased by their attempts, oh dear. They'll get the feeling from their swords that they should be more high-energy, even though their audience is so judgmental and rude. It's a festival, after all!
Aymeric abandons them to the wrinkly wolves and goes to check out the boxes, in the meanwhile. The first one he opens has a large taiko drum inside of it; as soon as he touches it, he'll instinctively know how to play. He will also get the feeling that he's supposed to be the North in this apparent festival battle.]
[ Aymeric has never seen a taiko drum in his life. Regular drums? Yes, but this? He assumes it's played like how they usually would, but is festival songs really just... Drum?
Anyway, there are more boxes and he's been imbued with the knowledge of the taiko, so he returns to the stage with it in tow. ]
I found a instrument that may be of use... There could be more, so quickly shuffle to the back and return anon.
anyways, at that mention, Meteion perks up and abandons the disappointed grannies in tow. to the boxes!! she'll inspect the second one and leave the other for Prompto to check out. ]
[As Aymeric begins to play the drums, the sternness of the audience seems to lighten a little. One old lady near the stage even nods in approval! You go, Aymeric, cheat your way to stardom. The taiko drum, as it's played, gives off a powerful feeling of strength and determination. Kinda makes you want to start doing some good ol' matsuri yells, huh?
Meteion will find a set of festival bells in her box! Tragically, this one doesn't come with intrinsic knowledge, but truly, one does not need intrinsic knowledge on how to shake bells. The sword at her side seems pleased with these! The sound is light and pleasant, providing a nice contrast to the taiko. She'll also get the feeling that she represents the West.
Prompto's box will reveal kachi-kachi, basically Japanese-style castanets. Their sound is sharp and clean, cutting through the other noises with precious. He'll get the feeling that he represents East. The vibe from his sword is still amused. He maybe gets the feeling that it would be making some sort of crude joke now, if it could speak.
The grannies seem more willing to give these weirdos a go, watching with a silent sort of intensity to see what they'll do next.]
[ He really is cheating and a small part of him feels bad about it, but he keeps playing the taiko drum with the training wheel ability guiding him.
Aymeric has a moment as he thinks about what he’s doing, what he’s wearing, and how this is so far removed from who he usually is.
Just a small little crisis but it’s over fast as he tries to appeal to the nanas with a smile as he continues to play. With every ounce of Ishgardian decorum left in his body, he REsistS yelling. ]
[ Festival bells! ....The fuck are these! SHE DOES NEED THE KNOWLEDGE? YOU EXPECT SO MUCH OUT OF HER, AND FOR WHAT. this is fine, the sword she's bonded with seems so pleased and that just has her mood perking up.
she'll go ahead and just ..shake them, lightly stepping on back away from the boxes with soft light pleasant chime and ring.
[Aymeric's iron will of Ishgardian decency is truly admirable, but it seems that it is not universally appreciated by the grannies. A small cluster in the front begins to argue amongst themselves as he taikos his little heart out.
"He has the stern spirit of a warrior! It's appropriate for him to be quiet."
"The spirit of matsuri is all about letting go! A true taiko master knows what needs to be done in these situations!
Rude of them to do this right in front of your salad performance, but old ladies truly do not care.
Meteion's reception is warming up, though! It doesn't seem like the grannies care if she has any particular rhythm going on, it's the vibes, man. She'll feel uplifted as she rings the bells, between the light sound and her sword, which seems enjoying it just as much. Bells are a cleansing noise, you know?
Prompto gets the best reception. That's some good ol' energetic kacha-kachaing going on right there! Suitable for matsuri vibes. The grannies approve, with one even throwing her little old lady arms up and giving a single, bold shout of: YOSAKOI!]
[ He’s quite used to people just talking trash about him in front of his face, so this is fine. To compensate not yelling, he drums more fervently than before, but most importantly he tries to speak with the others: ]
Do either of you know how long we must continue this…?
[ Gauges the granny reactions. ]
It looks like Prompto is winning. Do keep up the good work so this can end.
[ If it means Prompto has to give the grannies his socks then I guess it is that. ]
Giving it their all seems to largely be a good idea, though! The grannies slowly begin to warm up to this group now that they're playing with more fervor, with a few starting to clap along to the beat. Should they squint against the lights, they'll be able to see that some of them have even begun to dance along! Actually, a few of them are climbing up onto the stage? Hm. That's fine, probably. Up close like this, their faces are strangely blurred, though you can still somehow tell what expressions they're wearing.
One goes over to Meteion to try to teach her the dance moves, and she'll get the sense that the better she does, the more she pulls ahead of the other two in rankings. Another two circle around Prompto, chanting "DOKKOISHO, DOKKOISHO!" and clapping their hands aggressively. Perhaps they're waiting for him to finish the chant?
One approaches Aymeric, pulling a set of taiko bachi sticks from the inside of her coat with dramatic flair.
"I'll show you how it's done, whippersnapper!"
This is such a passionate granny... She drums out a sick beat on the other side of the standing drum and yells out a loud SORAN!! at the end, waiting to see what Aymeric's response will be.]
Yeah. Aymeric is flummoxed by fans getting on the stage. He's sure that isn't allowed, but he doesn't have the heart to tell off this granny who's trying to show him the ropes. The sticks keep drumming, though his expression is just. CONFUSiON. ]
[ Oh, well, if someone is offering and teaching her the dance moves! She's kinda vibing off their excitement and determination that she puts more into doing it properly.
She is completely distracted from whatever is happening to everyone else. Only dances now. ]
[ Why is he being circled by sock hungry granny's? Hello? Their faces are blurred! They might feel a little panic from him, but he's going to keep up the high energy and clicking the kachi-kachi with their clapping. ]
