YOU TALK TO THE PEOPLE...!
no subject
He'll walk over, looking down at Horikawa. He will commit this sight to memory so he can use it if he ever needs to get extremely furious in the future. But, for the survivor - a beat, and then a single simple:]
...Sorry.
[That he rolled that 8... damb...]
no subject
No, it's not your fault—it's... Mine. [ ... ] But he lived like he should. As swords, we're supposed to live to protect and that's what he did with his very last breath.
[ Sometimes, you have to comfort yourself. ]
no subject
Anyway he hates this a lot because it really does sound and look like Kanesada, which makes it so hard not to feel for him and his loss. Even if this isn't real, he wonders briefly how real the emotions of the fabricated people in these places are. But that's a rabbit hole he doesn't want to go down, so he just reaches out, lightly resting a hand on his shoulder.]
It's not your fault, either. No one can predict the tide of a battle - not fully. [...] And you're right, anyway. People lived because of him. Even though those losses were...
[Bad? Bad. There were so many corpses scattered across that mountain.]
no subject
Yet with each passing second, the light in his eyes dim. ]
I wouldn't be as down if he went out elegantly, you know? With some flare... Even just a little.
[ Down. He isn't sure what word to use here, but somehow that doesn't feel right. It doesn't explain this strange feeling depe within his chest... Who is he trying to fool? Kashuu is intuitive enough. ]
Instead of being made into a scratching post for a giant leathery chicken.
no subject
He hates it here though wow. "Down", he says. Kashuu thinks for a brief and ice-cold moment about how he would feel if it were Yasusada under that sheet, before shaking the ghosts of that consideration away.]
...Yeah. It's not fair, is it. [Remember when they didn't get to choose their fates, and then they were born into new bodies and they still don't get to choose their fates? Haha.]
--You gonna be okay? Doesn't look like there's any real way to give him a proper burial here and now.
[He doesn't even know how long this battle has been raging or how much longer it'll go, but the situation at a glance sure seems dire.]
no subject
They said they're going to bury him with the other soldiers. Going to give him a ceremony and everything, but not right away. Not until things settle around here a bit more.
[ Which he's glad for. Anyway, he's going to turn on his heel, facing the way he originally came. ]
I'm going to find that dragon.
no subject
Mm... [He thinks Horikawa deserves more than that, even as just a shade of the real sword, but he doesn't say as much. Hanahaki is coming for his ass. WE'RE REALLY DRAGON VENGEANCE QUESTING THOUGH HUH.]
--Right now? D'you even know where to look for it?
no subject
[ VENGEANCE!!! FOR HIS WAKI!
HE’S MARCHING TO AN UNOCCUPIED AND UNSUPERVISED BLACK CHOCOBO. ]
no subject
Hey, hey, hey—! Listen, I totally get how you feel, but don't you need a better plan?! No - scratch that, you need a better plan. There are too many of 'em out there! We barely managed to make it back here with the injured!
no subject
[ His voice isn’t one with any blame, just face that there should only be one dragon in Coerthas right now. At first, he hesitates to shake Kashuu off. He knows Kashuu is right, deep down he knows. ]
You’d understand, wouldn’t you?
[ What if that was Yasusada? Dramatically takes his arm away! Sleeve flapping beautifully in the cold winds, except no he’s wearing the ugly Ishgard armor. ]
no subject
--At least, like - listen! Hang on. Don't go yet. Let me talk to Vin after she's healed, okay? I don't want you going out there alone.
[He's not going to ditch Vin, who he assumes is The Only Real Person Here, for a fake Kanesada... But he's also loathe to see him go out and get his stupid ass killed. Somehow it feels like Horikawa's nonexistent ghost will haunt him if he allows this.]
no subject
[ Kanesada is… Unfortunately stubborn at this moment. Maybe it’s because of the death. He mounts onto the black chocobo, crestfallen and torn over what he’s doing, but. Sometimes you’re sad and if you’re here to kill, you might as well kill. ]
See ya.
[ And he goes!!! Kashuu will see there is another black chocobo here, though, also unsupervised and unoccupied. What will he choose to do? ]

Hello... [a tiny pause.] I wanted to thank you.
no subject
You are most welcome, young miss, but it is I who should give thanks. You aided our knights and rescued the injured, did you not? [ A smile before looking over to the wounded resting at the medic's tent. ] ... The lives you've saved—mayhap you find it too few, but I'm sure they are grateful as well.
[ A familiar voice whispers to Vin, not the same one from the beginning of this journey, but it is her own. The same nature of when she brings out living shadow: "we cannot save all. If we try, certainly we will lose ourselves. Who will you save then? Who will save you?"
If she looks over to the wounded, she may spot... A familiar face? ]
no subject
[she looks a little bit uncomfortable with the thanks, especially due to the strange voice she hears again. she presses a hand to her head for just a moment before she happens to glance over at the injured and sees him there. the last time she went on a journey like this, she reunited with others from the prism at the end only to find out they were all real, so. she hesitates for only a brief moment, glancing back towards the knight, before:]
If you will excuse me.
[and then she's beelining towards the wounded.]
Vax...?
no subject
His expression is dark, grim, like his thoughts aren't on how the knife spins between his burnt fingers. It stops when he hears her voice. ]
Vin?
[ After all that happened in that forsaken camp, he can't find it in himself to use nicknames. ]
no subject
as he says her name and seems to recognize her, though, she pauses. then she's moving to kneel next to him, concerned.]
Don't move your hand too much, you'll hurt it... Have one of the healers come to see you? I can go get them.
no subject
Yeah, but they're making sure everyone's getting some healing, which. [ He looks at the others in the tent, many of them unconscious. ] Y'know, fair, even though this is all the Prism's fucky field trips.
... They don't know that.
no subject
We'll just have to get you in the pods as soon as we get back, then. [...] Do you have any idea what's going on? Did you overhear anything?
no subject
Dragons attack elves, elves attack back? That sums it up pretty well and I don't blame them. That camp was hellish and they've been doing this for what—over a thousand years?
[ Because when Vin thinks back to the camp, for some reason she will remember more clearly. One of the bodies that were on the floor, dead, was Atsushi. ]
All I know is that they're planning to end all of this, everything, and the plan here is to kill... [ He goes silent. ] Nidhogg.
no subject
[atsushi... that's a very fun and cool detail that she doesn't hate at all. her expression twists as the recollection comes back to her, and she almost starts hacking up a flower before forcing herself to move on. that name is familiar to her, at least, so she tries to focus on it.]
So this is Estinien and Aymeric's world, then. How strange... But, that is the objective here? We are meant to kill this dragon?
no subject
Looks like it and makes sense with all these stuffy people around. Killing Nidhogg is their plan. Dunno if that is the plan we should go with. [ He grips his knife tighter. ] I know—this isn't real. Even now, I don't know if you're real... But those ugly flying lizards killed Vex.
[ ... ]
Dragons have taken from me before, so damn right I'm on board with taking from them.
no subject
[she can't stop it from sounding a little hurt, but - more than that, she's worried about him.]
But she must not have been. She is safe in your home. [...] I remember your memory, though. I'll help you with whatever you think is best. We should stick together, anyways.
no subject
[ so, like, vengeance. ]
There is a problem. The guys here are very serious about recovery, so I won't be able to join you for a couple of days. Can't even sneak past them, either, which is ridiculous. Guess their long ears make them hear better? Who would have thought.
