You can't force a change, or bury them. That's no good. But people change their feelings all the time. Sometimes it's out of their control, but sometimes it just takes talking things out, or a new perspective.
that's true... but sometimes talking things out or finding a new perspective still doesn't alter the way someone feels
but even if a feeling itself is negative, that doesn't mean the actions that stem from it have to be. i'm worried about everything that's going on, but i'm acting on it by trying to look out for others. i think there are plenty of ways people can act on negative feelings in a positive way.
I agree with you. It doesn't boil down to forcing positive emotions instead of feeling negative emotions. Both have their place, but the way we handle those feelings and the way we process them matters. Maybe your kindness will help someone else feel less worry or distrust even if you're still feeling it, instead of adding to it.
i'm sure the others here must be feeling similarly, but for the most part i don't think anyone is the type to go out and deliberately make things worse...
[only "for the most part" though because. there sure are some personalities here.]

do you think it will continue like this? many of us were frightened today; should we be on our guard for something else tomorrow?

Not because there's no chance something would happen, but because I don't know what good it would do. Tell us if anything starts to happen, I guess?

but yes, we'll do that.

[it's hard not to be a little distrustful, but she's trying.]

It's good to try. That's all we can do. You're doing a lot just by trying to look out for others.

but what's important is how we act on our feelings

and how they act on it is theirs to choose.
