[written on high quality paper with high quality ink and left for Vax somewhere. we're doing this old school.]

Vax,

Thank you for the letter. I get tired of texting, too. Too small. Pen is nice.

I'm glad our paths crossed as well. Some things are simply meant to be. I'm grateful you were able to remind me of some of what I've lost, remind me a little of home. Going back to it is going to be a big change, but I'm less worried, knowing a little more about what to expect. I owe a lot of that to you. You're doing a good job for her already, you know.

I have to tell you I run into a lot of birds and I'm worried if I just assume all birds I meet are you it's going to get confusing and cause a lot of awkward situations. But I hope that's not going to deter you from saying hello. I run into a lot of dead people, too. A lot of weird stuff happens to me. So stranger things have happened, and even if they don't, someday I'll die.

I'll make sure to look your friends up if I ever get the chance. As far as I know, I've only ever met a handful of people from the same part of the world as you, so it's pretty unlikely any of them would know about Vox Machina. Come to think of it, maybe one of them...druid lady, could be from the same place you talked about before? I think her name was Vilya. But who knows. The world is big, and weird, and full of so many different people.

I hope you'll say some of your goodbyes face to face, Vax. In my line of work, I've learned that closure is important, and words in a letter or spoken to a grave are one kind but they aren't much of a substitute for looking somebody in the eyes.

But I'm comfortable letting you go for now, if that's what you prefer.

Your friend,
Caduceus Clay
