[ UGHHH well that doesn't hurt the theory of Something Fucky Sure Happened Here! ]
How long were we gone? [ as he scrubs a hand over his face. ] It felt like a Charm spell or something. Soon as I snapped out of it, and then in the room - I couldn't snap out of that, either.
[ ...ughhhhhh memories. old ones, but still memorable nonetheless. sorry kiki.
...vax frowns, leg jittering under the table, thinking. ] I guess. But we already saw ghosts, and I'm pretty fucking sure none of them tried to climb into my body like a skin suit.
I don't think spirits of the dead are wandering around the prism. But I think the prism knows what ghosts are, knows what we all think of as scary. How is something like the prism able to tell the difference between fun scary and scary scary?
[but they weigh it a little more.]
That's a guess, though. It could be something else. Maybe you tapped into something, an echo, someone's memory. That can happen, too.
Vin told me her group felt - guilty. I felt like I was losing it - like I was gonna snap and kill the other two.
[ some of the jittering stops; for the first time he does at least reach out for the tea, wrapping his hands around it but nothing otherwise as he looks into the liquid. ] ... What about the pipe?
That sounds like a lot. But if it was an emotion, it doesn't sound familiar to me. It could be something someone in your group brought here, I suppose.
[ vax is quiet for a moment longer, thinking. he's not - this is percy's area, or even vex'ahlia's. it's frustrating, because he's not stupid, but figuring things out like this feels far out of his reach.
still. ] I guess when you put the pieces together, it comes into a pretty fucked up story. Someone lost it, killed someone else by clocking 'em with that pipe, and felt guilty about it afterwards.
[ it doesn't explain everything, either. either way, it's playing around with death, and there's something that's just raising his metaphorical hackles about it all. ] 's like you said. This place isn't trying to hurt us, or - whatever. But, if I'd attacked Garou or Buzen, it would'nt have been the prism. Would've just been me doing it.
[ just... under an influence of some kind of weird echo, under a charm. ]
If you'd attacked Garou or Buzen, it would have been an accident.
[they say it firmly.]
It makes sense you feel responsible. [marine...] But my job was to be there to prevent accidents from happening, so I'm the one who should feel responsible for it. I feel like I should have worried a bit more when you all piled in that secret passageway. It seemed like part of the game to me.
I still think it was part of the game. Bass was saying, you know, the prism seems to have added some extra things. All in the spirit of a murder mystery in an old mansion, but a different spirit than we wanted.
So, yes, it bothers me that it got that way when you three were in my care. I'm just less convinced than you are that it was about to turn violent. Didn't it go away right when Buzen was about to hurt you? And the gun - it was a type that wouldn't have hurt anybody, right? The pipe...wasn't that also a thing from the game?

but he drops into the seat with enough force to make his feathers ruffle. huff. ]
Yes, I want to talk about it. [ where to even START ] What the hell happened when we all went in the cabinet on your end.

I didn't expect a passage to be there, it wasn't part of the case. You all went through, but I couldn't follow.
[stone is not all that agile.]
I went around trying to find where you went to, and found you arguing over those guns.

I felt like I had to get that fucking gun.

[they nod, as though this makes some sense to them.]
Could be. It makes me think of ghosts. Sometimes can't they do things like that? Get in your head?

...Can it be like a feeling, you think?
