PREMISE
Don't panic. Easy to say for someone who isn't greeted by infinite darkness, but your vision isn't damaged. Blink once, and then twice.
A shiver runs up your spine as you fully awaken and take in the scenery. The monochrome landscape around you seems almost overwhelming, a lack of color, life and resources making itself known to all newcomers. It's cold and silent out there, and the longer you travel the more you find the same empty expanse stretches onward. You can change that though. There's a tingle in your fingertips, and a little whisper of the winds.
How are you feeling?
Perhaps you feel alone... scared... confused... angry... or maybe some of you feel a sense of relief being elsewhere from where you came.
Worry not, dear ones. There's no right or wrong way to feel. After all, your emotions make up who you are and can be very powerful if you know how to use them. You may even find that you have the ability to utilize them to push the limits and create a colorful world of your own.
Are you prepared to leave your mark on this world? With a little practice and a little understanding, your power can burst forth in a bloom of color and change the emptiness to something with more meaning.

Chroma is a short-termed murder mystery game where characters have a direct impact on the environment around them and are responsible for their livelihood and survival. Characters will arrive with only the clothes on their back and the item on their person. It will be up to them to make this into a place to call home, but with the ability to bring a balance of colorful feelings to this world they'll find they can make big and bold changes. Of course...change does come with a price. This world may not be all that it seems, and some of you may lose pieces of yourselves in the making, but you'll be all right...just don't lose your balance.

FORMAT
This game is loosely based on the Mafia party game, though we will be changing a few things as necessary for this game's particular play style.
Every week, characters will find themselves facing challenges and learning new skills that will help them bring a little more life and color to the world they now inhabit. However, every week, at least one character will be murdered. Upon discovery of the murder, the remaining characters will have to work together to gather clues and solve this mystery to catch a culprit responsible.
While the traditional Mafia style has a set group of killers, we will be operating with a rotating mafia system. What this means is that each week at least one character will be RNG'd as the killer. Characters are tasked with finding the culprit and solving the mystery of that week.
This game will also feature some (optional) elements of memory loss over the course of the characters' stay.

SCHEDULE
Our schedule will operate as follows:
MONDAY-THURSDAY: Each Monday will begin with a weekly mingle for characters. Much like games in the past, there will be new things to do each week for characters to interact with the setting. These mingles will go up at 9am PST/12pm EST/5pm GMT/4am NZST. In addition, sometimes during the week mini-events or other adventures will take place based on player action and mod scheduling. We will notify players in advance should this occur.
THURSDAY MORNING: On Thursday morning, we will unscreen the weekly curfew toplevel for players to reply with their curfew status for the week! This is the time to tell your mods where your character will be staying during the hours kills may occur. For the purpose of this game, we do ask that players submit their curfew no later than 5pm PST/8pm EST/1am GMT/12pm NZST. Should characters be in certain locations, special effects may take place. If you are not able to submit a comment yourself during those hours due to work, etc, we will also allow players to include other characters in their comment. For example, if player B can’t submit their comment but plans to spend curfew with player A, player A may submit a comment stating: “A&B will be in X!”
We do not accept late curfew posts to be included in the bonus mechanic! More information will be available once the curfew mechanic kicks in.
FRIDAY: Similar to
bluesclues and
notagain, Friday will be body announcement day along with a mini-investigation! What this means is that characters will learn the name(s) of the victim(s) for the week, and sign-ups will be available for a mini-investigation. For those who sign up, the mod team will then provide a small paragraph of potential findings for characters to discover and share amongst themselves. We will not be hosting a traditional investigation on these days.
SATURDAY: We’re sure you’ll all be very shocked to learn that Saturday is Trial Day! All characters will be required to attend ICly and we do ask that players are available for these days. If you need to miss a trial, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance so we may plan accordingly! Trials will begin at 9am PST/12pm EST/4am NZST and will end at 6pm PST/9pm EST/1pm NZST unless stated otherwise. A one hour break will also take place at 1pm PST/4pm EST/8am NZST for players to step away for lunch/dinner, and for mod tags to pause. ICly characters will not be able to leave the trial unless ICly dismissed early.
Since we're not hosting traditional investigations on Fridays, trial days will also be the time characters can begin to explore the setting to look for clues, test theories, and start to piece together the crime committed in order to narrow it down to a potential culprit.
IC voting will also be live at the start of the trial and close at the end.
Once the vote is closed, we will announce the party with the majority of votes.
SUNDAY: Sundays will be execution day! This is the day in which a selected party will come forward to execute the character with the majority of votes. While executions are not mandatory the way trials are, they are open to the public to witness. Executions will begin at 10am PST/1pm EST/5am NZST.
This cycle repeats until we hit an ending to the game!

FAQ
What is the pacing of the game?
Our game will be running on a 1:1 schedule and functioning on PST. Please refer to the above timeline for when important posts will go up.
Do I have to be present for every trial?
If something comes up and you are unable to be present for a trial, please let us know in advance! We prefer 48 hours in advance (minimum 24 unless it's an emergency), but if you come to us really early before the trial starts or in the first hour of the trial we will be a bit lenient. If you do not let us know in advance, you will be killed off in-game.
How long will the game last?
We're aiming for a minimum of six, an ideal of seven, and a maximum of eight weeks!
Should a player need to leave the game prior to endgame, please speak with the mod team and we will discuss the next steps with you.
If I die early what happens next?
We will have a graveyard for characters to continue playing in and participating in! You can do open threads on the main graveyard post, or you may have private conversations with other dead characters. In addition, characters in the graveyard will be presented with opportunities the living side does not have access to.
Private conversations?
Private conversations! Sometimes your character (or a group of characters) will want to get together with people to spend time together or share information or whatever. This would become a private conversation that isn't shared with the game at large. Please check out the private conversations page for information on how to set up journal filters and more.
How active do I have to be?
We like to see that players are participating either via weekly mingles, private threads, or both in addition to participation in trials! The game functions best when all players are active and engaging, so please keep this in mind when apping in! We ask that your time be managed well.
Additionally if you have a role, we will ask for a little extra higher activity to be around for coordination purposes, etc.
How do I contact the mod team for any questions/concerns/murder plans?
We will be operating primarily on Discord, so please be sure to create a group chat with Alli, Flurry, Siz and Ty! Discord is the most effective method for all of your mods, and our Discord handles will be available in the group server.
