ROLE: Elephant John
ELEPHANT JOHN
Today, regardless of wherever Emet-Selch is, he will soon receive a text message from Bass.
hey!! come thru!!
Emet-Selch doesn't really have time to question what they mean by this, because immediately a shimmery, yellow archway erects before him.
As Emet-Selch enters through the archway he'll find himself in what appears to be an empty street. Walking down this street leads to a towering building with an archway covered in greenery. This area seems to be sort of like a covered patio, with several stores lining the inside of the tower, though all the names are blurred out. One sells clothing, another sells food, another sells tourist trinkets and novelty items. And in the middle of these stores is a giant planter filled with a vibrant splash of technicolor trees and bushes.
Sitting on this planter is Bass. They lift a static-y, melting hand.
"You made it! Come here, I've got something to show you."
And they hand Emet-Selch a laminated piece of paper. It looks kind of like a menu for a restaurant.
RULES
1. Dream something up!
2. Decide who you want to send a message and send them that Dream!
3. It has to be someone different each week, no repeats. Sorry!
4. Don't tell anybody. Seriously.
After reading the rules, Emet-Selch will find that an image becomes the home screen of his phone. He'll also feel something... sticky... appear on the back of his hand as a temporary tattoo of the same image appears. Only you can see the phone background and tattoo, and they both persist outside of this area.
Once the brand settles in, Bass tilts their head.
"Oh. That's probably fine? Anyway, I'm here to explain if you have questions!"

[they are learning so much about themselves today.] I guess that's cool. Girls like blue eyes, right?
[stop]
no subject
[BASS. STOP.
i'm sure chinatsu thinks you're pretty. anyway]
no subject
Aww, c'mon... [they whine, but.] Okay, okay, anyway.
Did you wanna talk about more stuff? What are you thinking for dream targets, any ideas?
no subject
The other, I am still debating.
no subject
... Do you trust anybody in particular here, Hades?
no subject
Jiuqing is quite reliable as well; she would not be a poor choice.
no subject
Those are all good people, yeah. [they glance up at him again.] I know we kinda talked about it before, but. We said we were gonna try to do something about whoever got away with killing 9s, right?
I have no idea who it was, though.
no subject
[he's quiet, a few moments.]
I asked Steel that day whether they thought they would know if aught was amiss, should that person have shared Kazuma's affliction. They said it already seemed unsettled.
We feel fairly confident in it, and thus the question has become what to do.
[you wanted to be asked your opinion, bass, go for it.]
no subject
... I think Steel is right. The prism is giving us all this stuff to catch people because that's balanced. So when it doesn't happen - yeah, I can feel that something's off. And maybe things will get worse, but.
What options are you thinking?
[they have suspicions, and they're already a little tense.]
no subject
...we may keep an eye on them, yes, but-- what I wonder is whether there is any way to truly stop them save for the obvious. Vax is against it, so far.
no subject
[little staticky popping sounds. a beat.]
There's gotta be some other way. Something we can do, or something someone here can do that isn't that.
[... maybe a little more quietly, as a ripple of orange runs through them:] Don't make me lose you too.
no subject
It would not be solving murder with murder, it would simply be removing a threat. If this person is afflicted, is there not nothing to be done about their condition, regardless?
[a brief pause.]
I am exploring our options, Bass, and I do not intend to rush into anything risky.
no subject
No, that's dumb. It is solving murder with murder. You're still killing someone. And killing someone already screws with the balance in the prism, why would you do it on purpose?
I don't think you should tell everybody. I just - I think. [...] I think there's some other way to help. Something we're not seeing, because we don't have all the pieces.
no subject
[he can tell they're struggling, but-- all of this still has to be considered.]
And if there is something we are not seeing, there is no guarantee we will find it in time. We may certainly try, but if we do not, the same thing may simply happen again.
In that case: do you believe it better to simply let it?
no subject
[and then, after a moment:] I think you should wait. I think you should see all the angles and get more opinions before you jump to stabbing someone.
... I'm not saying that shouldn't be an option at all, just.
no subject
[like. it feels like they really shouldn't just leave this.]
We are working on it, but-- if we do not find anything, then I do not know what avenue would be left save for simply hoping they contain themselves this time.
no subject
I just don't think you should make assumptions. And I don't think violence should be the answer.
no subject
[if it has become too flawed, too ill to do anything but excise it--
he sighs.]
I have-- this is ridiculous. It is going to be utterly ridiculous. But I will try something later.
no subject
... Okay. I trust you. [they say, quietly.] Will you at least tell me? Don't just leave me in the dark.
no subject
[i, teej, just forgot to ever bring this up after little meow meow i have been dying in everything else i'm theorizing
anyway it looks like it kills him to say this, but:]
...I could use my form. Bring some sort of message with me asking others to... inform it, if they wish to aid others. See whether anyone takes the bait, if they've the capability.
I would prefer not to be so bold, but given the time we have-- I suppose I must do something.
no subject
... That's true. It's not outside the possibility. [they rub at their neck.] I hope that works.
[a pause.] Oh - before I forget. Gimme your phone.
no subject
he does blink at that, though, then obligingly hands over his phone.]
There you are. What is it?
no subject
they take the phone and open up the gumball app! they just put their hand on it for a second, with a sigh, before handing it back. emet's gumball app now shows an icon of an elephant. this is only visible to him. if he clicks on it, he will see:
- Blend in while standing out. The more you give, the more you'll get.
- Utilize a color out of your reach once a week to create something new.
he will understand that now his special gumball will still allow him to transform once a week, but also will allow him to use the ability of a color he is not in the possession of once a week.]
no subject
[he takes the phone back, reading this over.]
They do not have to be used at the same time, do they?
