Most of them are good for making medicinal teas, and that's the easiest to do with the supplies I have right now. But I planted yarrow, too, and making poultices from that can help with getting wounds to stop bleeding, so I plan to make that once it's ready to harvest.
No... the things people talk about here, like aether, or magic, or even the abilities from the gumballs... I've never met anyone in Daxing who could use any of them.
That's all life is, right? A little food, a little water, an environment to grow, and...you can call it luck if you like that better, or fate. The ingredient we can't see or control, but that means we'll always turn out a little different from our neighbor in the next planter over.
Well... I suppose you're right about that. But the way he spoke of it, or of infusing aether into things to make them work more effectively... it always seemed like something that he might be able to control or guide.
You can place your plants in soil and make sure they get sunlight, and you can water them carefully, but infusing life into them... that feels like a different thing to me.

...but maybe I'm just imagining it differently from how it is, since I've seen so many extraordinary things since coming here.
Oh. Maybe that is what he meant. I can't understand half of what that guy says.
[so maybe aether is something different than what they thought it was after that conversation.]
I don't think infusing life is different than that. It's just sped up, maybe. More intentional, more control. I am familiar with something like that. Maybe it's surprising, but that was never really the type of magic I use. But I've seen it.
[they think for a moment, going a little far away. after a long while - ]
The god I follow gives me what I need. It's a bit of a mix. Healing is a big part of it; healing people, keeping them safe, helping them be their best selves in a fight. The beetles, too. That's something I could always do.
Most of the time, I don't know that they are, not directly. I sort of think of it as the gods empowering people to do the things their followers need. But my .... I've been given a task that's important to her. So I guess she gives me a few tools to help carry that out.

How're the herbs coming along? At the greenhouse?

[too bad he'll die tomorrow night!]
At the rate they've been going, I think they'll be ready this weekend!

[that 9S is a good kid. hope he doesn't die.]
What are you going to make with them?

...just in case.

[in case someone gets stabbed with a sword on an investigation.]

Yes... I use it regularly in my work back in Daxing.

[so that tracks.]
But isn't aether just a fancy word for life? [this misunderstanding is so stupid.]

It didn't really sound like it, the way it was described to me... it sounded like it was used to do magic.

I see... that kind of magic doesn't exist where I'm from, but it's fascinating to hear about any kind of magic at all. What sort do you use?

I've never heard of gods being so... directly involved with their worshippers before.
