[ Hello.
[ as she steps through the quartz arch, she will find herself standing in a traditional Japanese-style room - tatami mats on the floor, and sliding paper doors on every side. there are no windows, or even decorations on the walls. it's dim in here, lit only by low candles and shadows crawling out of every corner. it's very, very silent.

[once she goes looking for the jade archway, it will appear before her. stepping through feels like stepping into a soothing landscape painting. the atmosphere goes grey, but rather than the monochrome of other areas, it's the mist of morning fog, still hanging low in the air. her feet touch down onto dirt and grass. she is standing in a quaint country garden. there are tall, dark green trees all around and rolling hills far away, but in the immediate vicinity is a flat, empty area with a few fenced in garden patches. the fenced in area in front looks to be a tidy herb and vegetable garden patch. there's a small shed towards the back of the garden, and gardening tools are scattered about.
in the distance she can see a pond and across the pond, far away, a small cottage with smoke billowing from the chimney. there are a few stone statues scattered about the garden, but after a moment, you notice that one of them in particular is pacing back and forth, talking to the plants. it glances up.]

[hello! she walks through the archway, into a little apartment. it's small, a bit cramped. there are clothes all over the floor, scattered like someone just tossed their socks and sweaters on the ground instead of folding them and putting them away properly. there's a small attached kitchen, a couch, and a big tv, with a couple of consoles and things next to it. and the walls are covered with brightly colored posters, though they're blurry and impossible to make out.

[shale is back in their garden. the archway opens, and nogiku will find shale sitting at their table, near where the archway opens, looking as though they've been waiting for visitors. a bloom of pink lichen is spreading across their chest.

the printer is not very cooperative oh but don't worry about the little animals they don't bite just depressing
[okay well, hysterically this is the first time she's come through their archway so. as a cat, when she enters the room she'll see that it's a small one-room apartment. there's a few posters on the wall but they're a little hard to make out. there's a clock on the wall by the door. there's also one by the bathroom door and one above a desk across the room. all three of them display different times. there isn't much in the way of furniture except for a small couch and a bed with a large pile of blankets and pillows formed into a person-sized cocoon. the kitchen is pretty sparse, though there's a whiteboard on the wall. it's split into two parts. there's a quote: Evolution can be an amazing vision quest of self-deception. the second half is a section just labeled NOTES and under it are a few items including:
□ Presents for exchange
● People did things for you, so don't forget to reward them
□ Spend more time with people
● They're not as bad as you think
□ Get more snacks
● People keep showing up so...maybe be a better host?

[today, instead of entering right into the room, there's now a hallway. there are now three clocks in various shapes and sizes mounted on the wall of the hall, each displaying a different time. it's a short walk down the hall and it opens up into a main room. it's about the same as their original room albeit slightly bigger and more filled in. there's now a small tv in front of the couch with their sw*tch docked on a table. the bed is still against the wall, but it looks a little more lived in, blankets still balled up and pillows thrown carelessly. the kitchen now has a few things on the counter; there's a tabletop stove, a microwave, and what looks like a thing to instantly boil water in addition to the small fridge and sink that's always been there. the whiteboard is also still there. today, there's a quote: fear is nothing but an illusion, lead your own way...
there's also a list that simply says NOTES, but the section under it seems to have a bunch of question marks under it instead.

[when nogiku enters the archway, she finds herself in what looks like a city. actually she ends up in what looks like the center of a city, a large tower looming over her, several stories high and windows on the side. it's evening here, neon lights starting to flicker on. there are people here, no faces and wearing almost weirdly bright, neon colors walking past her. there's a hint of music playing from somewhere, something upbeat that she can't quite identify, and there are shops along the sidewalk, two streets veering off to the north. there's signs and posters and art that're blurry to her eyes, and over the music she'll occasionally hear the sound of people speaking. their words are muffled, however.
there are crosswalks on the ground, greyish white in color and seemingly petering out in different directions. but as she peers at the tall towering building, signage blinking in and out, she'll see a staircase to the right. at the top of those stairs is a blue door.
she can explore the city if she wants, or she can head for that blue door.]

[shale's archway is now a grove surrounded with tall, tall trees, whose canopies hang overhead, shrouding the place in a greenish-gray mist. a path leads towards the garden area, the gazebo, down the path is a very cozy looking cottage, made of stone and shaped with a steeple. colorful lanterns light up the path approaching the cottage, giving off a cozy glow.

[hello. she can see that it's still a very traditional-looking Japanese-style home, but it's much brighter in here now. The weather outside is stormy, rain breaks the surface of the koi pond and wind runs through the branches of the sakura tree, but in a way where it's cozy inside here, where the air smells like a storm passing by. It's lit mostly by low candles and shadow lanterns, and shoji doors have closed off the main room, but a few of them are cracked open to show that there are rooms beyond just this one that are filled with actual things. The sword is still on the wall in here, restored to its place.
Steel is sitting at her low table - there's a kotatsu in the corner, but she's staying out of it for time being. she doesn't appear much different, but her hair where it sweeps around her ears normally is pulled tighter than usual. someone's iron strength of will maybe is keeping their form intact. mostly ... ? mystery. she is busying herself with that laptop, typing every few seconds and then making an ugh sound. ]
